This week’s recommendation is a song from FIFA 06. “Ashes” by Embrace was stuck in my head for a really long time back when I was playing FIFA 06.
Aside: I rediscovered this song recently. The story of how that happened is mildly fascinating.
There was a clip from a an old FIFA song that was playing on repeat in my head. It was on almost constantly. I just knew 2 lines, the melody, and nothing else. All I could remember was that it was in a FIFA game I’d played in my childhood. After a few days, this started to bother me and I went on an epic song hunt. First I tried to query the lyrics in Google. The problem with this was that my lyrics were very off and it led to nothing. I then tried to look it up on SoundHound by humming it. This also didn’t work. So, I listened to clips from every song in every FIFA in reverse chronological order from 2008.
The song in question, “Bodyrock” by Moby, was featured in FIFA 2001.
I may have a problem.
